Family Activities at the Y

Fox Valley Bike Challenge

Begins May 1, 2015 and runs through September 30, 2015

Looking for an activity that is free, fun, improves your health, saves you money and helps make the air cleaner? It’s as simple as riding your bike! The City of Appleton is teaming up with the Fox Cities Cycling Association and other area organizations to offer the Fox Valley Bike Challenge free to all Appleton residents. The City of Appleton has a number of trails and is adding more bike lanes to make it easier to get around the city by bike.

  • AGES: All ages are welcome to participate; this is a great family activity
  • FEE: Free
  • REGISTRATION: Register at www.nationalbikechallenge.org any time after April 1, 2015
  • DATES: Begins May 1, 2015 and runs through September 30, 2015
  • PRIZES: Monthly prizes will be awarded
  • QUALIFIED RIDES: All outdoor bicycle riding counts, whether you are biking for fun with the family, commuting to work, mountain biking or riding with a group in the country

Healthy Pets Day • Heart of the Valley YMCA

Thursday, June 25 at 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM

Save the Day! Welcome to our 9th Healthy Pets Day @ Heart of the Valley Y. We will have Dr. Laritson, a veterinarian to answer questions that you may have about how to keep your pets healthy and safe. Come meet the therapy dogs from the Fox Valley Humane Association, Miss Laura and Winston, Mr. Shane and his snake Harriett, Mr. Jeff and Liz Ann Jill Marie his pet turtle, our friends from PETCO will be here with some of their fun animals. And much much more… we will be collecting donations for the Humane Association during the month of June. Please pick up a wish list of urgent need items in our lobby. Come have FUN!

Plant and Wildflower Walk (All Ages) • Apple Creek YMCA

Saturday, June 27 at 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM

For all ages! Hike the trails of the Purdy Preserve with a naturalist and learn about the various plants and wildflowers found in the preserve. Program begins at the Apple Creek YMCA with a short introductory lesson in the Nature Study Classroom. Pre-registration is required at www.ymcafoxcities.org or at any Y location.

Fee: YMCA Member- FREE
Fee: General Public- $5/family
